Trump Rally In Mobile Tomorrow To Draw Tight Security Precautions
Security is expected to be exceptionally tight for President Trump's midterm campaign visit to Mobile on Friday evening. Trump is coming to the port city to campaign for Republican U.S. Senate nominee Barry Moore and gubernatorial nominee Tommy Tuberville, both candidates he endorsed before the spring primaries.
The visit is Trump's first to Mobile since December 2016, when he stopped at Ladd-Peebles Stadium during a post-election tour. This weekend's appearance is set for 6 p.m. Friday at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Center. The center seats 10,000 and is expected to be packed.
The presidential visit falls during USA's football homecoming weekend, adding to traffic and security concerns.

Considering that there have already been multiple assassination attempts and plots, law enforcement is monitoring several concerning online threats made against the 80-year-old president in advance of his trip to South Alabama.
While several posts have "crossed the line," according to Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch, no credible threat has been publicly identified. He informed reporters that any person making an online post that is even "the least bit threatening" will receive a visit from law enforcement.
Burch told Lagniappe Mobile that investigators have seen "a handful of comments [that] have been troubling on social media." He told reporters any threat, regardless of political affiliation, will be taken seriously.
The online threats have prompted his agency to notify the Secret Service, Homeland Security, the FBI, Mobile PD and USA Police. Compounding the security picture are threats made against Trump by Iran.
To reduce problems, Burch is urging those attending the event to be patient, arrive well before the scheduled time, follow orders and not attempt to enter any restricted areas.
Protests are expected, and Burch is urging those participating to remain in the pre-arranged protest areas and not cross barriers along the presidential motorcade route.
Due to heightened security, authorities have not released which of several regional airports Air Force One will use for Trump's arrival and departure.
