UPDATE: THE TORNADO WARNING FOR EAST CENTRAL TUSCALOOSA COUNTY IS CANCELLED... The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado. Therefore, the warning has been canceled.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Tornado Warning for east central Tuscaloosa County until 1:00 p.m.

At 12:16 p.m. CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Woodstock, about 15 miles east of Holt, moving northeast at 25 mph. There are radar-indicated rotation and debris signatures.

Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed, and damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles is expected. Tree damage is also likely.

Communities in the warning area include Lake View, Vance, Mercedes-Benz of Alabama, Abernant, North Bibb, Caffee Junction, and Bucksville.

Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama campus are not in the warning.

Residents in the warning area should take cover immediately. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. Those outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle should move to the nearest substantial shelter and protect themselves from flying debris.
