A career expo at the Tuscaloosa River Market will connect current students and recent alumni from the University of Alabama with more than 20 employers in the region Thursday night.

The event, called Live, Work, Stay, is a collaborative effort between the University's Career Center and several workforce development partners in the area, including the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, The Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority and Young Tuscaloosa.

The expo will feature employers from all over the spectrum, each seeking to keep talented individuals who are being developed and educated at the University working in or near the Druid City instead of leaving the area as soon as they have a degree in hand.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons will be there looking to recruit workers for its womens' prison in Aliceville, Alabama.

The DCH Health System will be seeking to hire full- and part-time employees at all three of their hospitals in West Alabama.

Bryant Bank, the City of Tuscaloosa, Peco Foods, Premier Service Company and more will be represented at the expo -- students and alumni can even network with representatives from Waffle House, Inc. or Townsquare Media, the parent company of the Tuscaloosa Thread.

The event kicks off Thursday at 5:30 at the River Market on Jack Warner Parkway and is scheduled to end at 8 p.m.
