A 77-year-old Texas man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a car on Interstate 59 in Sumter County, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers have confirmed.

Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Troopers in West Alabama, said the deadly accident took place just after 3 a.m. Sunday.

King said 77-year-old Charles Ray Sizemore of Dallas, Texas was on foot on the highway when he was struck by a Ford Fusion driven by a 22-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Sizemore was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which King said occurred near Mile Marker 23 around two miles south of Epes, Alabama.

No further information was available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
