A Texas couple was killed Tuesday in a major single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has confirmed.

Sergeant Reginal King, a spokesperson for the ALEA State Troopers in West Alabama, said the crash happened at about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.

King said 71-year-old Jerry C. Ketterer, of Del Rio, Texas, was driving a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer and 68-year-old Marci Ketterer was his passenger on Tuesday afternoon.

The semitruck left Interstate 20-59 near mile marker 58 outside of Fosters in Tuscaloosa County and struck a tree.

King said Jerry C. Ketterer and Marci A. Ketterer were both pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was available on Wednesday as Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the deadly crash.
