West Alabama Democratic Congresswoman Terri Sewell continues to aggressively criticize President Trump's conduct of the Middle East Conflict with Iran.  In a post of her Facebook site, Sewell called the president's behavior, "...increasingly erratic and unhinged."

The eight term 7th District congressional member voiced particular concern for his Truth Social post Tuesday threatening, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” if Iran didn't meet his deadline to open the Strait of Hormuz. That followed a weekend of profanity laced posts by Trump.

“Trump’s threat to wipe out ‘an entire civilization is reprehensible,” Sewell wrote criticizing Trump’s threat. “This increasingly erratic and unhinged behavior by the President of the United States demands immediate action by Congress.”

Since the threat, The White House has announced a two-week ceasefire agreement reached between the U.S., Israel and Iran. But several Gulf Arab countries have reported some attacks, in an early test of the truce.

Sewell has been one of the most vocal critics of the military action with Iran. In February after the first attacks she pointed to “the President’s obligations under the Constitution to work with Congress on military actions that put our troops in harm’s way and could drag our country into another prolonged war in the Middle East.”

With congress in recess, Sewell is demanding that members reassert their authority over presidential military action. “Republicans must bring the House back into session NOW and vote with Democrats to block Trump’s use of military force in Iran,” the congresswoman wrote on Facebook. “It’s time for Republicans to stand up to this president before more American troops and innocent civilians are put in harm’s way.”

Sewell voted for the Iran war Powers Act Resolution in March. It would have required an immediate end to the hostilities, but it failed to get enough votes.
