Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy’s Rising Star Student of the Month: Katrina Brown
Tuscaloosa City Schools, along with Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa, Legal Services of Alabama and Child Abuse Prevention Services, will highlight and recognize Rising Star Character Students of the Month from each school in the district during the 2022-2023 school year. Each month, two to three outstanding TCS students will be highlighted in this series.
Katrina Brown, a senior, is the second recipient of the Rising Star Character Student of the Month representing Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy.
Brown was honored with the award Friday at TCTA after initially being told they were celebrating the birthday of one of her teachers.

"I'm very surprised," Brown said. "I'm very thankful to get this award. At first, I didn't think this was for me so they covered it up really well and I was just surprised and shocked that I got it."
Brown said her positive character traits and behavior was instilled in her by her parents and instructors and she works hard to ensure she demonstrates good character daily.
"I think the way I represent myself, it shows me who I am and my background," Brown said. "I try to make sure I represent myself right."
Brown is apart of the Fire Science program at TCTA, is the captain of the flag football team at Central High School and enjoys playing soccer.
Brown is currently enrolled in EMT school and upon graduation, she plans to enroll in the recruit school at the fire college.
