BREAKING: Police Investigating Homicide in Tuscaloosa County Thursday Morning
Police in Tuscaloosa County are on the scene of the area's first homicide of the year, investigators told media Thursday morning.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said at 6 a.m. that his investigators had been called to assist the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office with a homicide investigation on Charolais Drive.
The VCU is made up of detectives from TPD, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the Northport Police Department and the University of Alabama Police Department. They investigate all unnatural deaths, homicides and most sex crimes in Tuscaloosa County.
The neighborhood is off Highway 69 South in Tuscaloosa County in the Taylorville area, not far from the Englewood Village WInn Dixie.
No further details were immediately available early Thursday morning.
The VCU investigated 22 homicides last year and in 2020.
