Danielle Winningham, the executive director of the Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority, has resigned from that role, citing personal and family reasons.

The news was made public Thursday afternoon when the TCEDA's board of directors met and approved a motion to allow their Executive Committee to begin looking for Winningham's replacement.

During the meeting, it was shared that Winningham announced her resignation in an email to staff and board members earlier in March.

"Danielle served in this position since August 2020 and has decided that for personal and family reasons it is time for her to step away from this job," a TCEDA spokesperson said in a statement to the Thread. "Her leaving the Authority is in no way a reflection upon her work here or her job performance."

The TCEDA, which was known until last year as the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority, is tasked with drawing new businesses to West Alabama and incentivizing them to build facilities and create jobs in the area.

Winningham was the full-time replacement for J. Dara Longgrear, the TCIDA's longtime director who retired in 2017.
