Alabama's senior wide receiver, DeVonta Smith joins sport's most exclusive club as the 86th winner of the Heisman Trophy. The bronze statue is the latest award that Smith won for his historic 2020 season, he also brought home the Paul Hornung Award today for college football's most versatile player and was named AP Player of the Year last week.

The 82nd Heisman Trophy will be awarded on Thursday, Jan. 5 in a virtual format due to COVID-19. Tonight the Heisman Trophy Trust announced the finalists for college football's most prestigious individual award.

The Alabama Crimson Tide finished a historic regular season by beating Arkansas on the road 52-3. Two Alabama players were honored by the Southeastern Conference for their efforts in ensuring the Tide got to 10-0. Alex Leatherwood was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week and DeVonta Smith was named Co-SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Crimson Tide was back in action after a 21-day layoff this past weekend. Alabama defeated Kentucky 63-3 in Bryant-Denny Stadium to keep its perfect season alive. Alabama's senior receiver, DeVonta Smith, earned SEC Offensive Co-Player of the Week for his performance against the Wildcats.

Alabama has had two Heisman Trophy winners, Mark Ingram (2009) and Derrick Henry (2015). They are the only two non-quarterbacks to win the award since 2006, with two of the five Power Five conferences not playing, does that increase the odds that Alabama could win its third Heisman Trophy?
