Members of the Tuscaloosa Police Department's Special Response Team linked up with a group of U.S. Marshals Thursday morning to arrest a man wanted for a murder in Los Angeles .

A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshal in Birmingham said the heavily armed and highly trained officers conducted a raid in the 3400 block of Glen Lane in Tuscaloosa Thursday and arrested Denzel Smith.

The official said a murder warrant was issued for Smith on February 12th, but did not have specific details about the killing or when and where it was committed.

There was also no information available Thursday about why Smith was in Tuscaloosa.

The U.S. Marshal spokesperson said the arrest was made without incident or injury, and Smith was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail as a fugitive from justice until he can be extradited back to California.
