Trooper Reginal King, a spokesperson for the ALEA, said investigators believe the crash occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. when an Emelle woman, Gelise Nicole, Hudgins was driving her 2006 Toyota Camry along Alabama 17 near mile marker 163 around 8 miles north of Epes.

The car left the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned in a creek. However, the crash was not discovered until Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m.

Both Hudgins and her 4-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Nothing further is available at this time, as troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
