Sue C. Thornton was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother during her incredible 82 years of life. She passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022.

Born in Searles, AL on March 26, 1940 to Curtis & Lona Mae McGuire, she graduated from Brookwood High School in 1958. After graduation she worked at Partlow Development Center where she met the love of her life, Ralph Thornton. For him it was love at first sight and for her it took a little more convincing. Finally, after three months, they were married on July 8, 1959.

She completed Dental Hygiene School and worked at Bryce Hospital Dental Clinic and retired in 1994.

Her favorite job and biggest blessing was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had three children, Cynthia Ann Thornton, Jeff Thornton, & Ramona Burnette; six grandchildren, Lindsay Tidmore (Alex), Wesley Phillips, Whitney Porter (Jared), C.J. Thornton, Alei Thornton, & Max Thornton; seven great grandchildren, Carson Grace Tidmore, Crawford Tidmore, Berkley Porter, Brantley Porter, Brody Porter, Daniel Thornton, & Will Thornton.

Sue loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participate in sports, cheer, dance, and pageants. She also loved her daily crossword puzzle, Publisher’s Clearing House, Alabama Football, The Braves, and keeping her husband straight.

Sue was loved by everyone that met her and she loved everyone unconditionally. She always reminded us to be nice and choose our words wisely.

Our lives will never be the same without her. The world is a little less bright without her smile. Sue will be dearly missed by everyone.
