SoCal Cantina to Open This Summer in Downtown Tuscaloosa
A restaurant inspired by the flavors of Southern California is set to open in downtown Tuscaloosa this summer and offer artisan tacos and craft cocktails.
SoCal Cantina currently has one location open in Miami, and with construction underway will have another open at 2310 University Boulevard by the end of June or July.
Miami entrepreneurs Leo Holtzman and AJ Billapando partnered with Tuscaloosa's Grant McCabe, owner of Rounders bar, to bring their restaurant concept to the Druid City in November of last year.
The menu will include 10 unique taco creations, burritos, bowls, nachos, and more.
When the Tuscaloosa Thread first profiled the new restaurant last year, the entrepreneurs were optimistically aiming to open in January, but supply chain issues and the extensive renovation process has pushed the date back for months.
Holtzman, though, said the end is in sight and SoCal Tuscaloosa should be open in the next few weeks.
Along with their fancy tacos and mouth-watering savory menu, of which there are vegan and vegetarian options, SoCal Cantina offers award-winning margaritas and fresh cocktails.
