There were no injuries reported in a Monday afternoon fire that filled the Tuscaloosa skyline with thick, dark smoke, a city spokesperson has confirmed.

Holly Whigham, a representative for the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service, said they received a call about a structure fire around 3:30 Monday afternoon that led crews to a building on 24th Street.

Whigham said the fire has been extinguished and no one was hurt in the blaze, which caught the attention of drivers around the city wondering what was burning.

The fire was out less than half an hour after the first call came in, Whigham said.
