UPDATED: (timeframe was updated)

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, there is a storm system that could bring the potential for some strong to severe storms across portions of our northern and western counties Monday morning.

Also, NWS mentioned that “there's a low confidence threat of severe wind gusts & can't completely rule out a tornado. The line of storms is expected to weaken as it moves southeast, but a few strong storms are possible in the SE in the afternoon.”

Timeline:

Monday morning from 6 am through 1 pm (the timeframe was updated)

Risk Level:

Marginal

Threats:

Isolated damaging winds to 60 mph

A brief tornado cannot be ruled out

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist noted that “rain and storms are more likely late tonight and tomorrow as a cold front pushes into the state. There is a low end "marginal risk" (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms after midnight tonight for the northwest corner of the state, and during the day tomorrow for most of Alabama. Heavier storms will be capable of producing strong gusty winds, but the overall severe weather threat is low. Temperatures will fall into the 50s over the northern half of the state by tomorrow afternoon.”

As always, even though this is a low-level threat at the time of this posting. Weather information can change due to many variables. It’s always best to stay weather aware. Townsquare Media will be on stand-by to bring you all the weather information you need.
