Second Teen Victim of Friday Night Shooting in West Tuscaloosa Dies
The second victim of a Friday night shooting in west Tuscaloosa has died, and police say like the others involved in this case, they were a juvenile.
Kennedy said one juvenile opened fire and struck at least two others, which resulted in them crashing a vehicle into a residence in the 2200 block of Reece Boulevard.
One victim, a juvenile, was found dead in the vehicle. A second victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center with critical injuries - Kennedy told local media at 2:30 Sunday that the second victim has now died.
The VCU does not release identifying information about juvenile victims of violent crimes to protect the privacy of their families, and state law forbids them from releasing information about minors who are suspects arrested and charged after VCU investigations.
In this case, a juvenile has been charged with the felony murder of both juveniles who died as a result of the shooting. They have also been charged with first-degree robbery.
Because both of the victims and the suspect are minors, very little additional information will be released about the killings.
The deaths mark the eighth and ninth homicides investigated in Tuscaloosa County so far in 2024.
