Saturday Homicide in Tuscaloosa Possibly Self-Defense, Police Say
Police in Tuscaloosa say a Saturday afternoon homicide at the McDonald Hughes Activity Center may have been a matter of self-defense, and no criminal charges have yet been filed.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to the venue on Martin Luther King Boulevard on reports of a shooting around 4 p.m.

The shooting reportedly happened during a private event there
They found a 23-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds and the VCU began an investigation.
Kennedy said they spoke to the shooter, several witnesses, reviewed video evidence and collected physical evidence.
The killing may have been in self-defense, Kennedy said, and no arrests have been made.
The VCU will present their case after the investigation concludes to the District Attorneys office and a grand jury to determine if laws were broken and charged are warranted.
The VCU did not identify either the suspect or the victim Saturday night.
