In a surprising move, Alabama head football coach Nick Saban made comments that may have confirmed the next move in a search for the vacant offensive coordinator position.

Speaking to Sports Radio 610 in Houston Wednesday afternoon, Saban alluded to a potential confirmation that former Houston Texans head coach and current general manager Bill O'Brien would become the next offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide.

"Based on the body of work up until [becoming GM], I think he's an outstanding coach and a really good person," Saban said. "He's got a good family and I think he'll do a good job with our players here."

O'Brien coached at Houston for seven seasons until he was relieved of his duties last year. He's also worked on staff for the New England Patriots and Penn State. At Houston, O'Brien went 52-48 and won two postseason games in 2016 and 2019.

Before the National Championship game against Ohio State, Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reported that a deal was expected to be developing "in the coming days." Wednesday afternoon, another report was announced that O' Brien was in Tuscaloosa visiting after he spent a few days with the team before the National Championship game.

While it is important to remember that nothing has been made official, Alabama is looking to build another dominant offense that led their team to an 18th championship next season.
