Tuscaloosa Police Investigating Sunday Morning Shooting Which Could be Self-Defense
Police in Tuscaloosa are investigating a fatal pre-dawn shooting Sunday that could have been a matter of self-defense.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to the 3300 block of Willow Ridge Lane at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

Sellers said TPD found one adult male had been shot, reportedly as a result of a physical altercation with another man. The victim is deceased, he said Sunday morning.
Sellers said the shooter later showed up at the Tuscaloosa Police Department building to speak with investigators, and the VCU responded to hear from him.
"During the investigation, the shooter claimed self-defense," Sellers told local media. "At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. There is no further information at this time."
Both men are residents of the Tuscaloosa area, Sellers said.
By the count of the Thread staff, this is the 21st homicide investiated by the VCU this year.
