Details Still Sparse About Weekend Homicide Investigation in Tuscaloosa
Police have not released many details about a homicide investigation launched at an apartment in west Tuscaloosa this weekend as they continue to work the case aggressively.
As the Thread reported Saturday night, the Tuscaloosa Police Department and the multi-agency Violent Crimes Unit were called to Stillman Court Apartments on 17th Street in Tuscaloosa.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the VCU, told the Thread that the call to dispatch came in around 9:30 p.m. Saturday and reported a dead body inside one of the residences.
Sellers said investigators discovered a victim dead in his apartment with injuries that appear to indicate a homicide.
As is the case after every killing, the VCU is throwing its considerable resources at the investigation and keeping things quiet while the case remains open.
Sellers did not release the victim's identity and said his manner of death and other details are not currently available for public release.
The homicide is the 17th investigated in the city of Tuscaloosa so far in 2024, exceeding the previous record-high, when police investigated 16 homicides investigated in 2006.
