Police Find Cocaine, Pound of Marijuana in Search of University of Alabama Fraternity House
A University of Alabama student was arrested Sunday and charged with two felonies after police discovered a large quantity of marijuana and cocaine during a raid of a fraternity house on University Boulevard.
Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force, said the University of Alabama Police Department was investigating a different matter at the Pi Kappa Alpha house when they noticed "a large quantity" of marijuana in plain view inside the private bedroom of one of the young men living there.
UAPD referred the case to WANTF, whose agents reportedly found 15 grams of cocaine and a pound of marijuana in the bedroom of 20-year-old Elias Ayari-Dias.
Ayari-Dias was arrested Sunday and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and two counts of failure to affix a tax stamp.
He was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond was set at $30,000.
