Police Arrest Suspect in Monday Night Homicide at Tuscaloosa Gas Station
Police in Tuscaloosa have arrested a suspect in the immediate aftermath of a fatal shooting at a gas station late Monday night.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to a service station in the 3000 block of 20th Street in west Tuscaloosa around 11:30 Monday night.
An adult male was there suffering from multiple gunshot wounds - Sellers said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.
The VCU took over the investigation, and Sellers said witnesses, forensic evidence and community involvement led police to identify Dennis Anderson as the alleged shooter in this case.
Sellers said Anderson, a 41-year-old Tuscaloosa resident, has been arrested and charged with murder. Sellers said he is being held without bond pursuant to Aniah's Law.
The homicide is the 21st in city limits this calendar year, the bloodiest for which there is modern data.
Police said additional charges against Anderson and other individuals may be filed. Stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread for updates as they become available.
