Pickens County Jailer Arrested Following Sexual Conduct with Inmate
A Pickens County jailer was arrested on multiple counts of custodial sexual abuse this week, according to a release from the 24th Judicial Circuit District of Alabama.
According to the release, a recent investigation revealed evidence of sexual misconduct between 28-year-old Marquita Booker and an inmate at the Pickens County Jail, where Booker was employed.
"Investigators with my office were made aware of the allegations concerning Ms. Booker earlier this week," District Attorney Andrew Hamlin said.
Brooks was arrested and charged with 16 counts of custodial sexual abuse on Friday afternoon. She is currently being held in the Lamar County Jail awaiting bond to be set.
Hamlin said "we will carefully review all findings from this ongoing investigation and take further action if necessary."
Booker was hired at the Pickens County Jail four months ago and is no longer employed by the sheriff's office.
