Person Killed in Saturday Afternoon Wreck in East Tuscaloosa

Police in Tuscaloosa say a person was killed in a multi-vehicle wreck on University Boulevard near Cottondale Saturday afternoon.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the police department, said officers were called to an accident at University Boulevard East and Hurricane Road.

The wreck was serious and involved more than two vehicles, Taylor said.

At least one person was killed in the collision, she said, although it will be some time before TPD is able to release any identifying information about the victim.

Both lanes of the University Boulevard are closed at the scene of the accident and traffic is being diverted around it.
