The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) announced that it will host a Halloween Event titled "BOO! In the Park" in Sokol Park on Oct. 30.

According to a Monday press release, PARA is hosting a socially distanced family night that will feature trick or treating for kindergarteners through eighth-graders as well as two outdoor movies, “Hotel Transylvania” and “Hocus Pocus.”

"Parks have proven a valuable asset in any community and particularly with the recent need to get outdoors and enjoy it safely," Executive Director of PARA Gary Minor said. "Outdoor movies and Halloween are fun activities that families enjoy. We are pleased to be able to offer this socially distanced fun for the entire family."

The event will kick off at 4 p.m. with the "Trick or Treat Trails" where children can compete in a series of challenges to win candy and prizes. Registration for the "Trick or Treat Trails" is required, $10 to register your child online or $15 to register them at Sokol Park.

At 5:30 p.m. gates will open at the Ray C. Jenkins Multipurpose Arena for the outdoor movie double feature. The event has a capacity cap of 120 spaces and it is first-come-first-serve.

"All attendees are required to wear a mask unless they are in their vehicle or in their picnic-style space," the press release read.
