One person is dead following a single-vehicle accident Tuesday in Northport, officials have confirmed.

Keith Carpenter, Northport Assistant Police Chief, confirmed to The Thread that officers got a call at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday about a wreck along Rose Boulevard, south of AL 171.

Three people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. One person is confirmed dead, and the other two occupants were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for their injuries.

Carpenter could confirm neither the identities nor the car involved in the crash at this time.

As of publishing, both southbound lanes are blocked off. Northbound lanes remain open. Carpenter urged drivers to seek an alternate route while officers continue to assess the scene.
