A pedestrian from Northport was killed early this morning in when she was struck by a vehicle being driven by a Tuscaloosa teenager.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, said they responded to the accident at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

The pedestrian, 35-year-old Ashley N. Jarrell, was on U.S. Highway 82 about three miles east of Tuscaloosa city limits when she was hit by a 2019 Toyota Camry operated by a 19-year-old from Tuscaloosa.

King said Jarrell was pronounced dead at the scene of the predawn accident. 

No other information was available on Sunday as ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
