The mayor of Northport, Bobby Herndon, is calling citizens to donate supplies to help the victims of a Monday night tornado in Fultondale that saw dozens injured and at least one dead.

"This is a personal mission of mine," Herndon said. "Our city has helped aid relief efforts several times in the past. And we want to do everything we can."

Herndon said that he'll be accepting any sorts of supplies, including clothing, nonperishable food items. diapers and baby formula.

He expects to begin organizing the donations in a trailer tomorrow, but for now, is accepting donations at his surveying office at 2728 Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard in Northport.

Herndon hopes to fill at least two to three U-Haul trailers full of supplies by the time they'll be delivered on Friday.
