A Northport man was charged with 15 counts of possession of child pornography Wednesday after a joint investigation by the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force and other local law enforcement agencies.

Lt. Darren Beams, the commander of the task force, said officers executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home on Mill Creek Road in Northport and as a result of their investigation, they found probable cause to charge Edward Chase Pogue with 15 counts of possession of obscene matter containing a person under the age of 17.

Pogue was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a combined $225,000 bond, but Beams said additional charges are likely to follow.

“Most investigations of this type usually do not end with only the initial charges,” said Beams said. “The initial charges come from a very short extraction of an electronic device that belonged to the suspect.”
