Northport Man Killed in 3-Car Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer Sunday
A Northport man was killed Sunday evening in a three-vehicle collision that involved two cars and a tractor-trailer.
Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, told local media that he deadly wreck took place around 5:15 p.m. Sunday and drew Northport Police, Northport Fire and Rescue and NorthStar ambulance services to the scene.
Carpenter said a preliminary investigation suggests a 2003 Ford Mustang driven by 59-year-old Anthony Allen was exiting the Green Village Trailer Park in the 6800 block of McFarland Boulevard in Northport when they were struck by a tractor-trailer traveling west on the highway.
The truck then went on to collide with a Honda Accord that was also traveling in the same direction.
Carpenter said Allen, the Mustang driver, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver and a passenger in the Honda were hurt, but not critically.
Chief Carpenter said the fatal accident will be investigated by NPD's Traffic Reconstruction Unit and no criminal charges are pending at this time.
