The houseguest of a Northport woman has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly fired a shot that grazed her head during an argument late Sunday night.

Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to Northbrook Apartments off Energy Center Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Sunday on reports of a shooting there.

The found the victim, a Northport woman, suffering from a grazing gunshot wound to her head that Kennedy said was not life threatening.

After investigating, police believe the woman allowed an acquaintance, 33-year-old Kristopher Andrew Oliver, to stay with her temporarily. Kennedy said investigators do not believe they were in a romantic relationship.

On Sunday night, the man and woman were having a discussion about his future when "without warning, he produced a pistol and pointed it at her," Kennedy said.

Moments later, Oliver allegedly fired on round and the bullet grazed the woman's head.

Officers gathered enough evidence to charged Oliver with attempted murder, and he was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail where his bond was set at $60,000.
