Former Alabama and current Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III announced on Sunday that he has been diagnosed with APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia). 

The Alabama football family has taken to social media to rally around Metchie as he likely will not play football this year as he battles this disease.

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban released a statement through the Alabama Football social media accounts.

Saban was not alone as numerous members of the Alabama football family took to social media to offer prayers and positive sentiments to Metchie.

The overwhelming sentiment from the football world is of massive support of the second round pick. It is fortunate for Metchie that he was drafted to the Texans as Houston's the home of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
