New Italian Grill Opening in Former Philly’s Spot on Tuscaloosa’s Highway 69 South
A new Italian eatery is opening its doors and serving its first customers today after moving into a popular restaurant property in the Taylorville community on Highway 69 South.
Tony's Italian Grill has been under development for months at 6601 Highway 69 South, which was first built as a Bojangles that opened in 2010. After that location closed, the space housed Philly's from 2019 until it shut down in 2023, six months after the restaurant's owner died.

Now, Taylorville residents will have a new restaurant operating out of the space —Tony's Italian Grill is hosting a soft opening Friday for lunch and dinner.
According to their posts on social media, Tony's is a family-owned restaurant aiming to serve authentic Italian food made with fresh ingredients.
The lunch menu primarily features pastas and salads, and the dinner menu opens up with steak and seafood specials, baked pastas and several signature Italian dishes supplemented by an array of appetizers and desserts, including fresh, house-made garlic knots.
Check out Tony's Italian Grill online on Facebook here or visit in person at 6601 Highway 69 South during their soft opening until 10 p.m. Friday.
