Mo’Bay Beignet Co. Closes Downtown Tuscaloosa Store After 9 Months
Less than a year after their grand opening drew a huge crowd to downtown Tuscaloosa, the desserts-only Mo'Bay Beignet Co. is closed as its owners seek a new home in the Druid City.
As their name suggests, the Mobile, Alabama concept specializes in beignets, a deep-friend French-American pastry staple covered in powdered sugar and served with a rotating menu of specialty syrupts.
They opened their doors in Tuscaloosa last July in a new space in Temerson Square where developers have divided the old, massive 4th & 23rd bar into two separate lots for lease -- Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint is expected to open in the second space soon.
Now, nine months later, Mo'Bay said on Facebook that the downtown location is closed as of April 1st and an announcement is coming soon about where the decadent dessert dealers will move.
