Mississippi Man Dies After Collision with Tractor-Trailer in Sumter County
A 19-year-old from Mississippi has died after a Tuesday wreck with a tractor-trailer in west Alabama, State Troopers have confirmed.
Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Troopers in west Alabama, said the deceased, Emanuel Hernandez, was driving a 2021 Honda Civic on Interstate 59 in Sumter County Tuesday night.
King said the Mississippi teenager collided head-on with a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer about seven miles north of Livingston, Alabama.
Hernandez was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from his car and critically injured. Corporal King said the 19-year-old was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., for medical treatment but died Wednesday.
No other details were available Friday morning and King said Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
