10:40am Update: All eastbound lanes on U.S. Highway 80 have now been reopened. A significant two vehicle crash just before 9:00 last night blocked both eastbound lanes near the 54mm through the night and into late this morning.

The lengthy closure resulted from protracted cleanup operations and the ALEA investigation.

9:22am Update: U.S. Highway 80 continues to be closed this morning at the 54mm due to a significant two vehicle crash last night, west of Uniontown but within Marengo County. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) State Troopers report the eastbound travel lanes will be closed at least through 10:00am.

Motorists traveling eastbound on U.S. 80 near the 54 mile marker in Marengo County should expect delays or find an alternative route due to the ongoing closure of the heavily traveled east-west highway. Troopers say the highway should be reopened by mid-morning.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reports the travel lanes have been shutdown since just before 9:00 last evening due to a major collision between a commercial vehicle and another yet to be identified vehicle.

Troopers have not reported if there were any injuries of fatlaities in the crash.
