An adult man was seriously injured in a shooting outside a sporting goods store in Tuscaloosa Sunday evening, police have confirmed.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, told the Thread that a 42-year-old man was shot outside Academy Sports on Skyland Boulevard Sunday.

The shooting, which took place just after 7 p.m., left the man seriously injured, she said, and he was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center by private vehicle.

Taylor said TPD is on the scene, but will hand the case over to the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the VCU, said they do not believe the victim's injuries are life-threatening as of 8:15 p.m.
