A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Aliceville Saturday night, District Attorney Andy Hamlin has announced.

Hamlin said police responded to the Tilley Hmalet apartment complex on Highway 14 in Aliceville Saturday night and found Kenny Ray Brown, Jr. dead on the scene. A second victim was also injured and Hamlin said they are still being treated for their injuries.

After a joint investigation with Aliceville PD and the Pickens County Sheriff's Office identified 21-year-old Markevion Rice as a suspect in the shooting, and Rice was arrested Monday.

He is being held in the Pickens COunty Jail with bond set at $2 million, Hamlin said.

“Our priority now is to ensure justice is served for Mr. Brown and his family,” Hamlin said. “We remain committed to a thorough investigation, and appreciate the work of Aliceville PD and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office who worked to make this arrest.”

Hamlin said the investigation is ongoing and could result in additional charges.
