Man Charged with Felony Assault After Monday Shooting in Tuscaloosa
A man has been charged with felony assault and jailed after he allegedly shot a younger man in the leg in Tuscaloosa Monday afternoon.
In a Tuesday update, Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called around 12:20 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Hargrove Road.

There, they found a 23-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg that Sellers said police do not consider life-threatening.
Police also located a 41-year-old man, Tremayne Benson, nearby. Both are Tuscaloosa men.
After interviewing the men, police found that they were neighbors in an ongoing dispute and got into a fight around noon. During that altercation, Benson is accused of grabbing a gun and shooting the younger man.
Benson was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he is being held without bond until one can be set by a judge.
