Northbound lanes are blocked on the interstate in western Tuscaloosa County after a major wreck involving multiple vehicles.

Trooper Jaylon James, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the crash involves at least one commercial vehicle and took place at about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The wreck happened on I-20/59 near Mile Marker 58 in Tuscaloosa County.

Troopers say the northbound lanes of the interstate are blocked and the road is closed for an undetermined amount of time.

"The Alabama Department of Transportation is on scene assisting with traffic control," James said. "Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are on scene investigating and will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly."
