Rapper and potential Florida congressional candidate Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell is urging highly-rated black recruits to decommit or withdraw from universities in states with restrictive voting laws, specifically targeting Alabama where his highly rated nephew is a football commit.

Campbell joins the Congressional Black Caucus in asking black athletes to boycott college football and basketball teams in Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Georgia. They are all states who have used a supreme court ruling to justify congressional redistricting to help the Republican Party maintain control of congress.

"This isn't just about NIL deals," Campell posted on Facebook. "It's about making a stand for Black representation and valuing self-worth above all else."

The rapper/political activist's nephew is Elijah Haven is a 5-star quarterback prospect out of Louisiana. The consensus No. 1 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class verbally committed to the Crimson Tide in April. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Baton Rouge, Louisiana native chose Alabama over Auburn. Florida and Georgia.

Campbell sent a personal message to his nephew. “Elijah, you need to decommit from the University of Alabama because the University of Alabama is a state school,” Campbell said. “The state school is controlled by the governor and the legislative body. They put the president of the school. The president of the school and the board, they are the ones who pick the coach. They have made a decision, Elijah… don’t feel that African Americans should be represented in Congress. That is setting us back since 1965. So, the things that you and your brothers and everybody else need and the things that African Americans need in Alabama and in Louisiana and all these other states, Elijah, have been taken away from you. Because without no Black representation, how are we gonna get the services that we need if they erase their seats? So you, Elijah, need to make a stance. You, Elijah, and every other five-star student athlete that is committed to these colleges and those states need to make a stance right now.”

The Congressional Black Cause is also urging Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference leaders to speak against state government redistricting.

So far, there has been no public comment from Elijah Haven.
