Police in Tuscaloosa are investigating after thieves broke into four businesses in the city and stole the till from an iconic local restaurant.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said the department received reports of break-ins or tripped burglar alarms at four relatively nearby stops on Wednesday, December 10th.

TPD officers responded to an alarm at Ciber Tienda La Chiquita, an electronics and tobacco store on Hargrove Road East, where they found shattered glass and a rock inside the front door. Police are unsure what, if anything, was taken during the break-in

Taylor said they also found the front glass door shattered at the nearby Tinda Latina el Puerto, a grocery store next to the Antojitos Izcalli Mexican restaurant.

Just up the road in the same time frame, someone shattered a window at King's Kitchen, the meat-and-three restaurant on Hargrove Road.

Lastly, Taylor said TPD officers responded to a burglary alarm at the Oasis restaurant and bar on University Boulevard in Cottondale, where thieves broke through the glass front door and stole a cash register containing an undisclosed amount of currency.

The break-ins are likely related, and all took place overnight between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Tuscaloosa Police Department at  205-349-2121.
