A man from Livingston died Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in Sumter County, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported Monday.

Senior Trooper Vu Quang, a spokesperson for the State Troopers in West Alabama, said 48-year-old Allen D. Reed was driving a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer when it left U.S. Highway 11 outside of Epes and crashed.

Quang said Reed struck a ditch, overturned, and then struck a tree - Troopers believe the accident happened at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday.

Reed was taken to Hill Hospital in York but did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead there.

Quang said the crash happened on U.S. 11 near mile marker 25, about a mile south of Epes, in Sumter County.

No other information was released Monday morning.
