Live Updates: Severe Weather Coverage for West, Central Alabama
Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa is providing you with live updates about the severe weather that could impact our coverage areas.

Latest Weather Information
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said that a "band of showers and a few thunderstorms will move through North/Central Alabama after midnight tonight, during the pre-dawn hours tomorrow."
SPC has removed the low end “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms for most of the state. It is still in place for the northwest corner of Alabama.
The lack of surface based instability will keep the chance of a severe storm very low overnight.
Away from thunderstorms, gradient winds over the northern third of the state could gust to 30 mph at times; a wind advisory is in effect there.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a "Wind Advisory" from Wednesday, January 18 at 7 p.m. until Thursday, January 19 at 6 a.m.
This impacts the following counties:
Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, Winston, Calhoun, Cleburne, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties.
