Lake Tuscaloosa Home Sells for $3.25 Million, Breaking Records

Tuscaloosa Realtor Kim Harwood closed a record-breaking deal this week, selling a home overlooking Lake Tuscaloosa for $3.25 million.

According to a Thursday press release, it is the largest-ever residential real estate transaction in West Alabama listed in MLS records.

The more than 13,500 square-foot home on Clear Point Road boasts six bedrooms and six bathrooms, sits on 2.5 acres and offers a scenic overlook of Lake Tuscaloosa.

In the announcement, Harwood said the purchasers are from out of state and are looking forward to calling Tuscaloosa home.

Harwood, an agent at Carrie Fitts Real Estate, took little credit for closing the astronomical deal.

“I owe it all to the Lord, persistence, a lot of networking, a great real estate market, and the great city of Tuscaloosa and all it offers," Harwood said.

She said few properties in the area fit the purchasers' $2-$3 million price range, and that it took months of research to build a list of suitable properties for her buyers to view and consider.

Harwood said the process began months ago in November 2020 when she was introduced to new clients and made aware of their desire to purchase a one-of-a-kind home in the Tuscaloosa area.

She ultimately interviewed the couple several times and built a list of 10-12 possible properties before finding one that "checked all the boxes" for her clients.

After several video walkthroughs, the clients narrowed the list to six properties and visited Tuscaloosa for a weekend spent touring houses and exploring the area.

“I am so proud of Tuscaloosa and what it has become and what is happening now to make this the best city to live in the Southeast," Harwood explained. “Ultimately, this enthusiasm rubbed off on the couple and they decided to make the move once they found 'A House That Fitts.'"
