Upgraded Lake Lurleen State Park Reopens in Mid-April, Camping Reservations Open Now
The upgraded Lake Lurleen State Park will reopen in northwestern Tuscaloosa County later this month, adding more amenities than ever for the West Alabama family favorite.
As the name implies, the main attraction at the state park is the 250-acre Lake Lurleen, where visitors can swim and tan at a sandy beach, paddle around on a canoe or kayak, or fish for bass, bream, catfish, and crappie.

As the Thread has previously reported, the State Park has been closed for more than a year for major upgrades, which are nearly complete, and the park will reopen to visitors on April 15th.
Described last year as "an almost complete renovation," Lake Lurleen now features a modern playground for kids, a new entrance building for park employees, and more.
The park also offers more than 20 miles of expertly maintained hiking and biking trails, boat rentals, and almost 70 sites for RVs and campers.
Reservations are already available for the Lake Lurleen campsites, but they advised on social media to act fast - they expect a high call volume and many online applications to enjoy the upgrades since the park has been closed for more than a year.
