A juvenile was seriously but not critically wounded Thursday afternoon after he was shot by another child in Tuscaloosa, police report.

Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said Tuscaloosa Police Officers and the VCU are on the scene of a shooting in the 2900 block of Azalea Lane.

Sellers said one juvenile male is believed to have shot another juvenile male there.

"The injury is serious but non-life-threatening," Sellers said. "There is a suspect in custody."

Sellers said the suspect is being arrested for Assault 2nd degree and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

Alabama law prohibits police from sharing the identities of juveniles who are accused of crimes, even serious ones, and Sellers said the VCU will not release further information about the suspect or victim.
