REPORTS: Jay Barker Tried to Hit Wife Sara Evans with Car Before Arrest
Former Alabama quarterback Jay Barker tried to hit his wife, country star Sara Evans, with a car in their driveway his arrest in Nashville this weekend, multiple outlets in Tennessee are reporting.
Barker was jailed in Nashville this weekend on charges of aggravated assault, news that was first reported by Tide 100.9 and the Tuscaloosa Thread.
Several media outlets in Tennessee with access to police and court documents are now reporting that Barker tried to ram Evans with his car early Saturday morning.
WKRN-TV, Nashville's ABC affiliate, said they have obtained a warrant detailing Barker's arrest.
The TV station reports Nashville police were called to a domestic disturbance around 1:30 Saturday morning.
According to the documents WKRN obtained, Evans was leaving a party in her neighborhood and was returning to her own driveway in a car with a friend when Barker reversed another vehicle towards them at high speed. The cars did not collide, but witness reports led police to arrest Barker and charge him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.
Court records indicate Barker will appear in court in Davidson County, Tennessee about the incident in March.
Attempts to reach Barker's attorney have not been successful at the time of publication of this story.
Barker and Evans have been married since 2008, and together they have raised a blended family of kids from their respective previous relationships. Barker's son Braxton plays football at the University of Alabama but has recently entered the transfer portal, while his other son, Harrison, plays at UAB, and his daughter, Sarah, plays basketball at the University of Georgia.
