Jasper Woman Shoots Spouse in Neck, Charged with Attempted Murder
A woman accused of nearly killing her spouse in Jasper Sunday has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, police said Thursday.
According to a post from the Jasper Police Department and additional court documents obtained by the Thread, JPD officers responded to North Airport Road in Walker County on reports of a shooting.
A man there was suffering from two gunshot wounds, including one through his neck, and was able to accuse his spouse, Kourtney Grace Duggins, of pulling the trigger before he was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment of serious injuries.
Jasper PD caught up with Duggins on Tuesday and she allegedly admitted to the shooting, which court documents said was carried out with a 9mm handgun.
The 26-year-old woman was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Police said she appeared before a judge Wednesday and is jailed on a $50,000 bond.
